Global Youth Climate Week 2024 Officially Kicks Off: Join the Movement for a Sustainable Future

The Global Youth Climate Week 2024 is officially underway! From November 1 to November 10, just ahead of the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku, this global initiative invites youth to take the lead in driving climate action and fostering innovation.

We invite you to be a part of this inspiring movement. Visit the Global Youth Climate Week website to register your events, explore interactive features, and connect with a growing global community united in the fight against climate change.

Empowering Youth for Climate Leadership
Youth hold the key to a carbon-neutral future, and the Global Alliance of Universities on Climate (GAUC) is proud to champion this cause through Global Youth Climate Week. Since its inception in 2022, Youth Week has gained remarkable momentum, with support from over 100 co-initiators—including UN-affiliated agencies, academic institutions, organizations, and businesses—all working together to amplify the voices of young climate leaders around the world.

As a fixed mechanism for global youth to contribute to the success of the annual COP, Global Youth Climate Week provides an official platform for youth to shape climate governance and play a direct role in the global fight against climate change. The Youth Week is a core component of GAUC’s wider ‘Climate x’ Campaign, which emphasizes the critical links between climate action and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

A Larger and More Inclusive 2024
Building on past achievements, Global Youth Climate Week 2024 offers an even more inclusive and expansive platform for youth around the world to engage in diverse climate-related activities. Visit our website today to submit your activities and access the event registration guide at https://globalyouthclimateweek.org/how-to.

Whether through workshops, dialogues, exhibitions, or creative projects, there’s something for everyone. We envision stronger collaboration focused on knowledge-sharing and mentorship to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.

This year, GAUC has further integrated Youth Week with its ‘Climate x’ Leadership Training Program, empowering nearly 880 students from 79 countries and 373 universities to lead dynamic climate initiatives. We encourage universities, students, and organizations to host campus events in alignment with Youth Week’s mission.

To highlight the vital role of youth leadership, GAUC will showcase the accomplishments of Global Youth Climate Week 2024 at COP29 in Baku, ensuring that youth-driven climate actions are brought to the forefront of global discussions.

Together, we can shape a brighter, more sustainable future for all.
