Event Description
In order to raise awareness of the climate crisis and to enhance the sense of responsibility and ability to protect the environment, from June to September 2023, I set out from the section of the Grand Canal that flows through Tianjin, China, taking the protection of the river as an opportunity to contribute to the advancement of low-carbon living, ecological protection and climate governance among Chinese youth.
As a member of CLIMATE X, I successfully apply what I have learned into practice. I led a team (there were six students in the team, but the remaining five were not part of Climate X) to the key sections of the North Canal and the South Canal in Tianjin to conduct research, and collected 127 valid questionnaires, which gave me a preliminary understanding of the public's low-carbon awareness and ecological and environmental protection behaviors.
Subsequently, we conducted seminars in Shandong, Henan, Yunnan, Guizhou and Hainan Provinces in China on the development of the Grand Canal River, climate protection and river pollution control, as well as activities in communities, kindergartens, scenic spots, museums, etc., which achieved good results.
In terms of results, we also emphasize on practical implementation. We created public media and published news articles, participated in the social practice of Tianjin university students and won awards; we edited a propaganda documentary to record this activity. I think this is a meaningful and unforgettable activity. Thank you to climate x for giving me the opportunity to practice!
